How The Patchmaker Plus Got Started

I started embroidering about 15 years ago as a hobby. I had a small Viking embroidery/sewing machine and was able to do small preset designs. I went to a craft show and indulged in an embroidered shirt. Of course, the one in my size was not available and I needed to order it…well $90 later I received my shirt and I was curious as to what type of backing/interfacing was used to sew it on. Come to find out, it was not sewn onto the shirt but was rather an iron-on patch. That got me thinking. It is a lot easier to make a patch and have that in stock rather than a shirt in every size and every color with that design sewn on it. So, I spent about a month figuring out a process on how to make a quality iron-on patch. After several trials and errors, I finally found out a process that works and I use that same process today.  This business started out as a hobby for several years, vending at several craft shows here there around town. Now thanks to the internet and ecommerce sites I am able to make patches fulltime.  Every customer is important to me. Quality and superior customer service go hand in hand. I am honored that you would consider me to help make your embroidery dreams come true.

My Commitment to you

My goal/passion is to produce high quality patches at affordable prices. Everything is made in the USA. I do not outsource any work. I stitch out everything myself with attention to detail. There are designs that I created myself from scratch and some that I have purchased. I have recently learned that I can take any applique design and convert it into a fully embroidered patch. There is still a lot for me to learn in this “world of embroidery,” it is an exciting adventure.

Digitizing fees

Custom Digitizing Fees - Flat fee of $15 for a 6" or smaller design......flat fee of $65 for a design over 6". Digitizing fees are non-refundable.  Digitizing takes anywhere from 3 to 15 hours of computer time.  IF THE IMAGE IS A COPYRIGHTED IMAGE, THEN I NEED WRITTEN PERMISSION FROM THE ARTIST TO CONVERT THE IMAGE TO AN EMBROIDERY WITH THE INTENT TO SELL.  The cost of the final design/patch will depend on the complexity of the design and the "stitch count." Industry standard for embroidery is $1 for every 1000 stitches. I charge $1 for every 1750 stitches. A standard 4x4 image usually has roughly 15,000 to 18,000 stitches. I will always round down on the price to give you a better deal.

Shipping policy

I will make every effort to have your order in the mail as soon as possible. Keep in mind that 95% of my orders are custom and are not made until the order is placed. If I happen to have it already made, then I will ship it out immediately.  Every package will have a tracking number. I am not responsible for packages once the post office has shown that they have received it. It is (literally) out of my hands at that point. If a package is lost or does not reach you in time, then contact me and we will see what we can do. Per USPS guidelines, I cannot file a missing package claim (domestically) until 3 weeks after the package was given to the post office.  I ship everything USPS First Class (3-5 days). If you need it sooner, then be sure to click on the upgrade to Priority Shipping or Priority Express shipping during checkout.

Only Priority and Priority Express automatically come with $100-worth of insurance.

Refund policy

If you are not satisfied with your purchase or if there is something wrong with it, contact me and we can promptly work it out together. Due to the nature of custom designs, all sales are final; however, I will make every effort to come up with a solution that will satisfy everyone.

Iron-on instructions

IF YOU ARE GOING TO PUT THIS ON A NEW ARTICLE OF CLOTHING, PLEASE WASH THE CLOTHES FIRST TO GET THE SHRINKAGE OUT OF THE WAY AS THE PATCH WILL NOT SHRINK.

I currently use Heat-N-Bond Ultrahold as the iron on backing.

Iron-on instructions: Peel off the backing and place patch on your garment where you want it. Place a paper towel or thin cloth over the patch (so you do not get adhesive stuck to your iron). Then place hot iron over patch and hold for about 15-20 seconds. Remove the paper towel/cloth and LET THE PATCH COOL. Once cooled, turn over and do the same to the other side. You will not need the paper towel/cloth this time but be careful not to burn your garment with the iron. You can now sew it down for added security if you like.  ****** These are made with polyester thread.....set your household iron accordingly.....a setting for "cotton" is too hot and will melt the patch.***

All Copyrights and trademarks of the characters images used belong to their respective owners and are not being sold.  These items are not a licensed product and I do not claim ownership over the logos or characters used in the patch.  Please note that you are only paying for the time and materials it takes to make the patch.  Thank you.

New Social Club Information

Thank you for contacting me. I would be honored to help bring your club's logo to life.  I charge a flat $65 fee to digitize the design. The fee will cover all the pieces (rockers, center piece, SC patch) and different sizes if needed. Digitizing takes anywhere from 3 to 12 hours of computer time.  As for the price of the patches themselves, that is based on the number of stitches in the design. Industry standard is $1 for every 1000 stitches. I charge $1 for every 1750 stitches and no minimum order. The prices have been ranging anywhere from around $50 for a small or child sized set up to $175 for a 3X sized set of patches.  I will ask for input during the digitizing process so that changes can be made at that time if need be. I will also take a photo of your patch when I first stitch it out if you like so that you can also make changes at that point if something is not right.....due to the nature of Custom" patches, all sales are final......that is why I will ask several times during the creation of it to make sure it is exactly the way you

want it.

As for your logo/design, I cannot use screen shots due to copyright issues. With any random images gathered on the internet that you did not change or modify in some way, I would need permission from that artist before I could make it into a patch with the intention of selling it.  I would also like to make your listing password protected so that only club members can purchase your design. The way the password works is that the member placing the order will type in the password in the comment box during checkout...if I receive an order that does not have a password, then I will contact that member. If they are still unable to provide me with the correct password, then I will cancel their order and refund their money.  The password can be anything you like, a name, a date, a phrase, etc.
